About This Project
The City of Edmonton wants your feedback! Your input is important for understanding Belgravia's traffic flow and congestion challenges. This input, along with technical and policy considerations, will be used to help assess potential short-term and long-term neighborhood traffic and shortcutting improvement measures.
Potential improvement measures will be brought to the Urban Planning Committee for information.
Further Committee direction and funding would be required to implement any future improvement measures.

As the number of people living in Edmonton grows, the City strives to adapt Edmonton’s mobility system to move people around as efficiently and effectively as possible. There has been an increase in concerns in the Belgravia neighbourhood about traffic congestion and queuing along certain roadways, as well as shortcutting through the neighbourhood, especially during peak rush hour times. This project was initiated as a result of a Council motion made on April 8, 2025 (see item 10.2), which directed the City to complete a traffic assessment study of the Belgravia neighbourhood and identify potential short- and long-term interventions to optimize the road network and reduce shortcutting.
The role of the public when participating in engagement for the Belgravia Traffic Review is at the ADVISE level of the City’s Public Engagement Spectrum. This means that the City will use feedback you share on this project to:
- Inform the City’s planning analysis and ensure all factors are taken into consideration
- Help assess potential short-term and long-term neighborhood traffic and shortcutting improvement measures.
- Summarize feedback for Urban Planning Committee so they are aware of the public’s perspectives prior to providing further direction.
A What We Heard report that summarises the feedback received will be posted online and provided to anyone who registers and submits feedback through this page or by contacting the project team directly.
Urban Planning Committee
Once Administration completes its review and has determined its recommendation, the improvement measures will be brought to the Urban Planning Committee for information.
Further Committee direction and funding would be required to implement any future improvement measures.

When the traffic lights have been interruption because of the train the cycle should resume its cycle and not revert to its normal cycle.
