Shape How Bus Rapid Transit Moves In Your Area!

Review the proposed bus rapid transit (BRT) route options for 111 to 118 Avenue and take the survey, from November 17 to December 5

Edmonton needs a robust transit network that connects to all areas of the city, providing Edmontonians with access to safe, convenient and reliable service. The foundation of any transit network is mass transit.

The City is expanding its transit network by adding Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes that will complement current bus and Light Rail Transit (LRT) in providing efficient and sustainable travel options as our population grows.

This project is currently in the planning phase. Previous Public Engagement took place in 2022-23, collecting feedback on the City’s Mass Transit plan, including input on Non-LRT Mass Transit approaches and technologies for the future (10-15 years).

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) typically features dedicated travel lanes (where possible), priority at intersections and upgraded stations for faster, more reliable service. The BRT Service provides high-speed travel between urban nodes and main corridors, with only key stops along the way. The implementation of BRT may impact traffic lanes, traffic flows, and locations of trees and landscaping along selected routes.

The City-wide BRT routes currently being developed (as part of this project) are:

Route B1: Castle Downs – Downtown – Century Park

Route B2: West Edmonton Mall – University of Alberta – Bonnie Doon

Recommended routes for BRT B1 and B2 were presented to the Urban Planning Committee of City Council on August 27, 2024 and are currently in the confirmation and concept development stage. Some segments are under review and may result in alternate alignments.

As the Project Team confirms BRT Route B1: Castle Downs to Century Park via Downtown and works towards concept development, it is considering different alignment options for the 111 Avenue to 118 Avenue segment. This engagement is focused on collecting your feedback on the 111 Avenue to 118 Avenue section of Route B1. Additional engagement opportunities on other routes will take place in 2026.
