This Engagement Opportunity is Now Closed
Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in the Exploring Opportunities Survey for Neighbourhood Renewal in Rossdale. The survey closed on March 23, 2025.
A summary of what we heard will be shared in the coming months, and information about the next stage of engagement will be available at a later date.
In the meantime, visit edmonton.ca/buildingrossdale for more information about the project. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Project Team.
Project Scope
Neighbourhood Renewal is coming to Rossdale. The project will include the renewal of roads and sidewalks*. Planning for this renewal is just beginning with construction timing to be confirmed later in the project.
Rossdale is a river valley neighbourhood in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, located immediately south of the downtown core. It is a residential neighbourhood with easy access to downtown, the University of Alberta, the Edmonton river valley park system and other amenities.
How project decisions are made
City policies and programs such as the Complete Streets Design and Construction Standards, Safe Mobility Strategy, and Winter City Strategy help guide Neighbourhood Renewal designs. Since each neighbourhood is unique, the Project Team seeks input from residents who live, work, and play in the area. Additionally, technical considerations such as roadway widths, utility conflicts, and tree preservation help determine what is feasible within the neighbourhood.
As part of the REFINE stage of the Public Engagement Spectrum (shown on the right-hand side of this page), the public will have the opportunity to provide input on a draft Project Vision and Guiding Principles. This draft has been developed based on previous City projects and public engagement in the Rossdale area.
