The City of Edmonton is looking for insights from those who live, work, and play in Desrochers regarding upcoming Naturalization sites!

Planting our City's Canopy!

The City of Edmonton is expanding your urban forest to plant two million new trees by 2031 and 20% canopy coverage by 2071. A major part of reaching this goal is determining the optimal locations for new plantings while making plant selections that best serve those that will live, work and play in those areas.

Site selection is influenced by several factors, including;

Land-use conflicts (i.e., water supply pipes, power lines, etc.),
Geographical constraints, and
The public's varying preferences.

This engagement aims to refine the City's plan on how to plant trees and shrubs at selected sites while ensuring alignment with the site's current usage and community values.

We acknowledge the traditional land on which we reside, is in Treaty Six Territory. We would like to thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples whose ancestors’ footsteps have marked this territory for centuries, such as nêhiyaw (Cree), Dené, Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Nakota Isga (Nakota Sioux), and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) peoples. We also acknowledge this as the Métis’ homeland and the home of one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel. It is a welcoming place for all peoples who come from around the world to share Edmonton as a home. The City of Edmonton recognizes that the privacy and confidentiality of a person's personal information is important. All personal information is managed according to the Alberta Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) . This means that:

The personal information you share with the City of Edmonton is provided only to those areas that are required to carry out the business that relates to you. All e-mail messages sent or received are the property of the City of Edmonton and may be accessed by department heads or their delegates without further consent of the author. All e-mail messages required to be retained by law will be printed and maintained through a records management process.

7. Security measures are implemented in order that web services remain available to all users. The City of Edmonton computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify attempts to tamper with information, or to otherwise cause damage.

8. Collection is authorized under section 4 (c) of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and is managed and protected in accordance with the Act. The City intends to input the information into an automated system to generate content or make decisions, recommendations or predictions in accordance with the City of Edmonton Generative AI Standard.
