Location #1A: Jack Horan Park and Dry Pond
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Large grassed open spaces
● Paved stormwater infrastructure needs improvements
● Possible trail Improvements
● Few seating areas throughout the park
● Limited accessibility to some areas of the park at the top of the dry pond
● Naturalized planting opportunity
● Lookouts and gathering areas opportunity
● People walking their dogs
● Informal pathways in the NW of Jack Horan Park and at 169 St NW at the North East Jack Horan Park - Opportunity to create formal pathway and entrance into commercial area
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
What is it like to walk, roll and bike through Jack Horan Park?
Are there places to rest, gather and meet neighbours?
Are there any amenities missing in the park? Are there activities you would like to do, but can't?
Is the park an access point for other areas of the neighbourhood?
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
stol5over 1 year agoAdd fencing around the park to discourage access from 100th avenue and the parking lots behind the restaurants.
Fencing around park

Many are old, ugly and slanted. This park is popular for tobogganing in winter....some of the lights are in terrible spots for that.
0 comment8strolimeover 1 year agoIncrease EPS/Bylaw/Ranger neighborhood patrols to control growing volume of aggressive street people.
Neighborhood residents don't use Jack Horan park as often now, due to frequent encampments exhibiting aggressive or disturbed behavior
3 comments2CWover 1 year agoMake sure to not plant too many trees as use hill for sledding in the winter and wouldn’t want to loose that asset.
0 comment3Lesleyover 1 year agoClean it up; add a playground; mow all the grass, especially on the north side.

Location #1B: Glenwood Park
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Large garbage bins along 164 St NW are unattractive and take up park and sidewalk space
● A fence along 164 St NW blocks access into Glenwood Park
● Pathway is in need or repair or replacement
● Pathway does not go to all places in the park
● Sidewalk improvement opportunity with street trees and other landscaping
● Active and quiet spaces in the park
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
What is it like to walk, roll and bike through Glenwood Park?
Are there places to rest, gather or meet neighbours?
Are any amenities missing in the park? Are there activities you would like to do, but can’t?
What is it like to cross the streets to access Glenwood park? Are there ways to make it better?
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
Rmastersover 1 year agoAdd more picnic tables and benches. Walkway at north end through trees is a bit dark and unkempt at night. A few homeless like that spot.

Location #2: School Areas - St. Thomas More Junior High School & Alex Janvier School
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Bus loading locations exist along 96 Avenue
● Crosswalks are located at 95 A Ave / 96 Ave on 167 Street
● Crosswalk is located at 96 A Ave / 96 Ave on 165 Street
● Pedestrian / traffic signal for people who walk at 95 Avenue on 167 Street and 165 Street
● New school has wider sidewalks on the south side of 96 Avenue
● Students from both schools need to access bus stop on 95 Avenue and 165 Street
● Vehicles drop off students on both sides of the avenue.
● Opportunities to improve experiences with student drop-off and pick-up
● Opportunity to improve sidewalks surrounding schools
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
What is it like to cross the streets around St. Thomas More Junior High School & Alex Janvier
School? Where do people cross? Are there ways to make it better?
What experience do drivers have with school drop-off and pick-up? Are there ways to improve
it?
What is it like for students who need to walk to the bus stops on 95 Avenue, 165 Street or 163
Street?
What is it like for students who bike to school? Are there ways to make it better?
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
Joshover 1 year agoWider Sidewalks, direct MUPs through fields, avoiding roads
Once kids cross 95ave from the south, can there be a direct MUP to the schools through the field that avoid 165st? Improves safety a lot, keeps them away from busy vehicle drop off areas.
0 comment2Rmastersover 1 year ago96 Ave between 167 st and 165 st perhaps the worst asphalt in the west end. Stop patching and just properly pave this road. Seriously.

Location #3: 167 STREET Area
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Entrance to the neighourhood is a large concrete triangle off 100 Avenue
● Road is wide and vehicles may drive quickly
● Opportunity for landscaping or naturalization on grassy median at entrance
● Gateway feature opportunity to mark the entrance to the community (e.g. public art, signage, lighting)
● Some crosswalks do not line up to corners
● Long stretches of the road have no formal crossings
● 167 Street is a collector road that connects Glenwood to the commercial area to the north
● Wayfinding and signage opportunities
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
Do you walk, roll or bike on 167 Street? If so, what is it like? Are there ways to make it better?
What is it like for people who walk, roll and bike when they cross 167 Street? Are there ways
to make it better?
What is the experience for drivers turning onto 167 Street from the side and connecting
streets? Are there ways to improve the turning experience?
Is speeding or short-cutting an issue on 167 Street? Please explain your answer.
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
bjohnsonover 1 year agoSidewalk
Continue with a sidewalk past 100th ave on 167th street so family's can get to Jasper Plaza Daycare safer. Add a slope to the the crosswalk in that intersection so that bikes dont have to go around.
0 comment3S&TKover 1 year ago167 St and 98A Ave is used for staff entrance to the Villa Marguerite. It is VERY busy, garbage trucks, staff, etc.
When we first moved here over 20 years ago the access gate used to be closed evenings and weekends. For a few years now it is no longer closed, and there is traffic day and night using this access point. We also see many people cutting through, and other people who "don't belong" in that area during the off hours. Vandalism is a concern for sure.
0 comment1Dog Walkerover 1 year agoMy issue is with the intersection of 95 Ave and 167 St, specifically the north side which lacks a crosswalk.
There is no crosswalk if wanting to cross 167 St on the north side of 95 Ave. For cars heading south on 167 street they aim for the stop sign at 95 Ave however they cross the service road just west of 167 St, just north of 95 Ave, in the process, so any pedestrians wanting to walk either west or east on the sidewalk on the north side of 95 Ave and on the north side of this service road do not have any protection. I think there should be a crosswalk for east/west pedestrian protection and a yield sign for cars heading south on 167 St just before that service road and then after the car goes past the yield sign they would then be governed by the stop sign at 95 Ave. See the photo of that area that I've provided. The photo was taken from the sidewalk on the east side of 167 St on the north side of 95 Ave looking west. The view is of 167 St and across 167 St is the sidewalk which runs along the north side of that service road. 170 St is in the far distance. There is a bus stop just west of 167 St on 95 Ave, heading west, that is used by students and adults alike as well the sidewalk on the north side of the service road leads to 170 St and the shopping at Terra Losa. As you can see from the photo the sidewalk on the east side of 167 St does not lineup with the sidewalk on the west side of 167 St and there is no painted crosswalk and as already indicated cars heading south on 167 St aim for the stop sign at 95 Ave so any pedestrian wanting to cross 167 St has no protection.
0 comment2S&TKover 1 year ago167 St and 98A Ave truly needs repaving--pothole repairs are not working and not lasting. It is a mess.
0 comment1bjohnsonover 1 year ago4 way light
95th ave and 167st needs lights all around...often you cant get through until a student hits the cross walk sign.. Kids are always crossing in the middle of the street to get to the bus stop. Its very busy...unsafe.

Location #4: 165 STREET Area
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Opportunity to improve sidewalks in order to enhance accessibility
● Unaccessible bus stop at 97 Avenue on west side of street
● No crosswalk at 97 Avenue to support crossing at edge of Glenwood Park
● No crosswalk at north end of Glenwood Park to support crossing into park or to access bus stops
● Sidewalk missing on west side of 165 Street from 96 Avenue to 98 Avenue
● Opportunity for landscaping or naturalization
● Add or improve crossings to seniors housing and multi-unit housing areas
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
Do you walk, roll or bike on 165 Street? If so, what is it like? Are there ways to make it better?
What is it like for people who walk, roll and bike when they cross 165 Street? Are there ways to
make it better?
Are there opportunities to increase access to senior housing and multi-unit housing areas for
people who walk, roll and bike to and from Glenwood Park?
What is the experience for drivers turning onto 165 Street from the side and connecting
streets? Are there ways to improve the turning experience?
Is speeding or short-cutting an issue on 165 Street? Please explain your answer.
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
T.Webbover 1 year agoBump outs and beautification
The team identified many areas in need of crosswalks, but the straight, excessively wide street invites speeding through the playground zone. Bump outs and painted streets can help slow traffic and guide parking
0 comment0Joshover 1 year agoSidewalks, Raised crossings, Mobility Lanes
Priority 1 in this area should be kids and parents walking and biking. A mobility/bike lane is definitely needed, connecting with 96a and 95ave and ideally continuing north on 165 (or MUP if 163 get bike lanes) Raised crossings are great for slowing cars and ensuring safer crossings in winter.

0 comment1Rmastersover 1 year agoYes better lighting is needed on this pathway beyond Police station lot heading west. Very dark in parts at night.
0 comment2CWover 1 year agoI feel a little uneasy when walking there and it is dark. The trees make it feel too secluded- maybe better lighting and trees pruned.
