What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Some people access the commercial area from the alley on both the north and south ends of the commercial area
● No hard surface walking routes from street front sidewalks to store fronts
● 163 Street and 95 Avenue is a busy intersection and crossing location
● No crosswalk at 96 Avenue to cross 163 Street for people who walk to cross over to commercial area
● Opportunity to improve sidewalks in order to enhance accessibility
● Opportunity for landscaping or naturalization
● Pedestrian crossing enhancements and opportunities to improve safety
● Opportunity to improve access to the commercial areas
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
Do you walk, roll or bike to the Westgate commercial area? If so, what is it like? Are there ways to make it better?
What is it like for people who walk, roll and bike to cross the street to get to the Westgate commercial area? Are there ways to make it better?
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
Joshover 1 year agoRemove slip lanes on 95ave, more trees around this whole area, wider sidewalks.
163st needs bike lanes to access shopping centres like this safely.
1 comment0S&TKover 1 year agoThe slip lane along 95 Avenue between 165 St and 167 St is unmarked and useless. Either make it a lane with paint or not...

over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?

● Limited formal crosswalks on 100 Avenue for community walking access to commercial area
● Left turn into commercial area off of one way eastbound 100 Avenue
● Left turn out of commercial area onto one way eastbound 100 Avenue
● Alley closure at 165 Street behind commercial strip area
● Limited green space and landscaping
● Some stretches of street frontage have no sidewalks
● Shared pathway east of 163 Street on 100 Avenue leads to sidewalk on west side of 163 Street

Vikkiover 1 year agoFire Hydrant
Don't know if it's officially in the Glenwood neighborhood but on 100ave between 168st and 169th street there is a fire hydrant right in the middle of the sidewalk. Last winter I had to push my stroller through the snow because there was no way around the hydrant. A wheelchair or mobility aid would not be able to get around either. Would be nice to be fixed so my baby and I can walk to Starbucks and superstore without walking all the way down 170th street taking an extra 20 minutes. Even just add pavement around it instead of moving it. Make the sidewalk wider on the side towards the grass
1 comment2T. Webbover 1 year agoPedestrianize the alleyways
Formally recognize that the alleyways are safer to use as-is for walking and biking and wheelchairs than most sidewalks in the area. Add them as a primary focus of pedestrianization of the area.
0 comment1S&TKover 1 year ago100 Ave desperately needs more one-way/do-not-enter/wrong way signage. REGULARILY we encounter vehicles driving the wrong way on 100 Ave.
0 comment0Rmastersover 1 year agoThe bottle depot attracts many homeless daily. They dig through condo dumpsters, turn in bottles and sleep in Jack Horan Park. It's a fact.
2 comments1Rmastersover 1 year agoAlthough a commercial area it is seriously lacking foliage which would greatly enhance things and create needed shade.

Location #8: 170 STREET
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed:
● Gateway and opportunity to create a connection from the community to the commercial area
cross 170 St NW
● Existing informal pathway in Jack Horan Park
● Observation of flooding here and possible to enhancement to the space with naturalization
and landscaping for water absorbency
● Alley runs the length of 170 Street from Jack Horan Park to 95 Avenue
● People using the alley to access opening in sound barrier wall at 98 Avenue
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
Do you walk, roll or bike along or to get to 170 Street? If so, what is it like? Are there ways to make it better?
What is it like for people who walk, roll and bike to cross 170 Street? Are there ways to make it better?
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?
Rmastersover 1 year agoMake a proper walkway on 170 st from 95 ave to 100 ave on top of berm or alley side similar to the walkway from 95 ave to 90 ave on 170 st.
0 comment1Joshover 1 year agoMake a legit bike route!
I bike this area to cross 170th street to access fit4less, home depot, etc. Please make this fence opening more open and safe. Very tight right now and feels unsafe at night. Also, make a MUP instead of sidewalk and convert the alley running south along 170th street on the east side of the fence into a bike path! No bike paths/sidewalks N/S along 170th street at all. This would help connections to all these shopping centres and also WEM (MUP west side of 95/170).
0 comment1Rmastersover 1 year agoAccess from alleyway berm beside 170 st is sketchy, tight and frequently graffiti is added here. Homeless tend to frequent this spot as well
0 comment1CWover 1 year agoWalk that alley and cross 170 street in the sound wall cut out- you need to walk fast to cross and watch for people turning right -scary

Location #9: Senior/Assisted Living Housing Area
over 1 year agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. What opportunities for improvement do you see in this area?
The Project Team noticed the following:
● Bus stops are conveniently located nearby
● Some bus stops have no seating or shelters
● Some stops have seating areas, hard surfaces for DATS buses and are accessible from the city sidewalk
● Family assisting family member with mobility needs on a walk around Glenwood
Consider the following questions when sharing your ideas:
What destinations in Glenwood and the surrounding area do you go to? How do you get there? What’s it like to travel to those destinations? How could we make it better?
Are there ways to improve your access to the community, parks and commercial areas?
Are there any other opportunities for improvement in this area?

0 comment2Joshover 1 year agoI bike through here a lot! (and my kids soon if safer) Tons of potential.
97ave to 163st is my common route, then a zig zag south to 163st and then west to 96a ave. then curve through the 165st school area to 96ave or 95ave depending on destination. This is very uncomfortable currently with all the street parking, no intersection control, etc. My kids will need to bike here soon. Please make everything around the schools bike and pedestrian priority. 95ave south down 163st or 165st both need biking connections too with all of the schools and community leagues/parks. Let's get the glenwood side done so others can be done soon too. We need separated bike lanes, along with intersections that are designed for bikes so all users can cross safely.
