We don't need more traffic near these schools we have plenty of places to go that isn't an inside this neighborhood which could be very dangerous for all the kids around here. As well we should be able to have a nice green open space. There's lots of families who come out here in the summer. This is great for those who want to play games that requires a open field. Do not change this green space.
Please leave the green space it's a perfect family friendly area for dogs who might not be comfortable with going to dog parks, it's great picnic area. I love having a huge area because it makes up for the smaller back yards. We moved here because of the open green space!!
Please keep this space as AP! We do not need anymore houses, businesses or schools in our area. I have lived here for 15 years and love to see that space being used by frisbee teams, families and kids. Too many green spaces are being removed from neighbourhoods. Why should we have to leave our neighborhood to go find some green space? This area is a peaceful gathering place for our community.
Kiniski gardens already has a few schools within our neighborhood and nearby neighborhoods. I think it would be important to leave this green space as a recreational area that we can use with our kids, dogs and friends. This street and the adjacent street are already heavily trafficked in and out.
This is typically vague by Edmonton City. WHAT is being proposed for the site? The hard working citizens here deserve better clarity on the “what” is being proposed.
Please keep as a green space for the children at Julia Kiniski School
Leave the green space green. The roads aren’t set up for any kore traffic. The area is already a disaster to try and get through in the winter with windrows and parking and the kids back and forth across the street. We don’t need more convince, we don’t need more housing. We need a place to just exist. For kids and adults to play. To enjoy the out doors.
As this area is used for recreational space already I am not concerned regarding the section being zoned as AP. However, the area being rezoned as US does concern me. There are plenty of services very nearby and already a lot of traffic in this area. We do not want increased risk to our children playing in the park area or attending school due to this rezoning.
Leave this green space as is! As a member of the community that utilizes this green space with her family- it would seriously suck to have that taken away. We don’t need to add more traffic to the area, it’s already a nuisance during high traffic times!
We don’t need more traffic through this already busy school zone and the empty lot is frequented by my members of the community for recreational purposes
We use this green space on a regular basis and would like for it to remain a green space.
I live on 38th street across from St Kateri school. If I try to leave my home around high volume school times it’s almost impossible.
Traffic volume aside, the green space is used by myself, and MAYBE people in the neighbourhood for walking and exercising our dogs.
I’ve been told there is a frisbee golf group who plays there as well.
Please keep it a green space for use to be able to play with their dogs on. Edmonton bylaw states: “ Dogs are not allowed on school grounds, sports fields, playgrounds and golf courses. The fine for violating this bylaw is $100.”
If this lot is changed I won’t be able to take my pup out in the morning before my husband goes to work because the next closest “dog friendly” location is a 20 min walk away, vs 3 minutes.
Keep this space a greenspace!!! We don’t need another school, church, mini mall etc etc. And we don’t need more traffic in the area either.
This green space is greatly utilized by residents in the community and will continue to be utilized. To rezone this are will result in the destruction of outdoor space for the neighbourhood to enjoy, we dont need more parking lots we need recreational space.
I strongly object to this project. There are already three schools nearby, multiple shopping areas, a government service centre at Mill Woods Town Centre, and a church. The field is frequently used by dog walkers (even in the winter) and ultimate frisbee players. We don't need, or want, more development in the area, More development is just going to lead to more traffic, more garbage, more parked vehicles, and more shade on the adjacent sidewalks. Can't a beautiful field just stay as a beautiful field?
This space is NOW used for community recreation. Because it is in the middle of Mill Woods and zoned as US, it might be considered (incorrectly) for a (place of religion) or: a Mosque.
A church may not be a good fit for this corner.
I agree with the majority that;, would like to keep the traffic down in this residential neighborhood. (If possible)
We are accepting of ALL religions in our community BUT; we prefer not to have a (call to prayer) on a regular bases in this quiet (except for LOUD vehicles?) neighborhood.
A recreation centre would be the ‘best’ fit, if it can’t be retained as our public park. (sports field). Green space.
Whatever is considered for ‘possible’ construction on this space, must ALSO - then include: AMPLE off road parking!
Because the shape of Kiniski gardens is triangular, and this block is in the middle, any children living below this space are attending Julia Kiniski school, or St Kateri school. This means the intersection is already very busy with transportation to and from these schools. Furthermore, there is no other open green area on the south side of Kiniski gardens for recreation, so for residents with young children, this intersection would not be safe if extra traffic was directed here. Please leave it be or build a playground.
We have already two schools around the area and we did not need more traffic. Keep the green space for a park.
I too appreciate the green space the way it is. An increase in traffic is concerning. I don’t think we need another liquor store, more homes, churches, private schools, cannabis stores. A small park would be nice. We would like more clarity on the applications and what the city is deciding on.
