Waste Services Branch Development Standards Project:
The Waste Services Development Standards Project aims to create user-friendly Development Standards for new residential and mixed-use buildings' residential parts.
The outcomes of this project will guide the development of new residential and mixed-use buildings in Edmonton.
As part of the process of creating the Development Standards, Waste Services engaged with interested groups in the development, architecture, and property management industries, as well as internal frontline staff, through a mixture of surveys, workshops, and interviews with select industry stakeholders.
The Development Standards have now been drafted in collaboration with both internal and external partners.
Phase 3 of Engagement is to ensure the Development Standards are robust and responsive to the needs of the stakeholders that will be impacted by these standards. We are inviting all interested groups to provide feedback on these standards through Engaged Edmonton, which will be reviewed and addressed by the project team.
There are 3 options available to provide input:
1) Ask A Private Question allows you to ask private questions regarding the Development Standards to the project team.
2) The Forum allows you to provide specific input across the 4 major elements of the Standards:
- Background
- Curbside Collection
- Communal Collection
- Collection Vehicle and Road Requirements
- Application Requirements
3) Once you have been able to review the standards, please complete the Survey, which has several questions designed to ensure that these standards are as clear and comprehensive as possible.
This page will be open for input from July 28, 2025 to August 29, 2025. Thank you for your participation!
