District Planning is a multi-year project to build The City Plan’s 15-minute districts—small towns in our big city— where people can meet many of their daily needs locally.

It is one of fifteen districts in Edmonton’s District Network as outlined in The City Plan. Nearby districts include the Northwest, Jasper Place and West Edmonton districts (see Figure 6.1: Citywide Context). Exempting the Anthony Henday, the West Henday District includes the following neighbourhoods: Breckenridge Greens, , Edgemont, Glastonbury, Granville, Hawks Ridge, Kinglet Gardens, Lewis Farms Industrial, Pintail Landing, Potter Greens, River’s Edge, Riverview Area (future neighbourhoods to be determined), Rosenthal, Secord, Starling, Stewart Greens, Stillwater, Suder Greens, The Hamptons, The Uplands, Trumpeter Area, Webber Greens, Westview Village, Winterburn Industrial Area East and Winterburn Industrial Area West.

West Henday District Plan Repeals

The City Plan has put the need to simplify our policy landscape into sharper focus. District plans will contain the most current directions from The City Plan. As Edmonton transitions from over a hundred area plans to 15 district plans, Edmonton’s planning system will become more predictable, efficient and effective so it can direct and inform Edmonton’s long-term growth and development.

The City has reviewed every area plan and has recommended which plans can be repealed, amended or retained. For a full list of proposed plan repeals check out the District Planning - Plan Repeal List
