Consultation has concluded
Yellowhead Trail is being converted to a freeway. We are currently doing the engineering design for the portion of Yellowhead Trail between St. Albert Trail and 97 Street. Construction on this section is expected to start in 2023.
Join the project team for an update on the project and to discuss design options for the active transportation connections, noise wall replacement, landscaping and open space features in your neighbourhood.
Thank you for tell us what you think from May 24 to June 15, 2022. Your comments will be used to finalize the preliminary design of this section of Yellowhead Trail.

We are sharing three design options for the shared-use path (walking, biking, wheeling), open green space, and noise wall in Prince Charles. Each option includes the following components:
Yellowhead Trail will shift to the north approximately 18 metres from where it is now located. This provides additional space between the residential properties on the north side of Prince Charles and Yellowhead Trail.
A new noise wall from 127 Street to just east of 124 Street. The top of the new noise wall will be at the same elevation as the top of the existing noise wall.
A new shared-use path will be added parallel to Yellowhead Trail and will connect Prince Charles to Blatchford to the east, and Sherbrooke and Dovercourt to the west (See Active Mode Connection map below). The shared-use path will also connect to sidewalks along 127 Street, running north and south of Yellowhead Trail.
Neighbourhood connections to the shared-use path and open space will be provided at 126 Street, 125 Street, 124 Street, and at the alleys.
A new open green space will be created along Yellowhead Trail between 124 Street and 127 Street, offering opportunities to incorporate amenity/rest areas along the shared-use path and new landscaping, where possible.
