Consultation has concluded

Yellowhead Trail is being converted to a freeway. We are currently doing the engineering design for the portion of Yellowhead Trail between St. Albert Trail and 97 Street. Construction on this section is expected to start in 2023.

Join the project team for an update on the project and to discuss design options for the active transportation connections, noise wall replacement, landscaping and open space features in your neighbourhood.

Thank you for telling us what you think from May 26 toJune 15, 2022. Your comments will be used to finalize the preliminary design of this section of Yellowhead Trail.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

We are sharing two design options for a new shared-use path (walking, biking, wheeling), open green space and noise wall in Sherbrooke. Each option includes the following components:

    • The existing berm and vegetation are removed along Yellowhead Trail to accommodate a new one-lane eastbound service road between St. Albert Trail and 127 Street and the 127 Street eastbound exit ramp.

    • A new noise wall of varying height with a new lower berm is constructed along Yellowhead Trail, south of the one-lane service road. The top of the new noise wall will be at the same elevation as the top of the existing noise wall.

    • The intent is to maintain existing boulevard trees along 124 Avenue and to add new trees and landscaping, where possible.

A new shared-use path will be added parallel to Yellowhead Trail that will connect Sherbooke to Prince Charles and Blatchford to the east, and Dovercourt to the west (see Active Mode Connection map below).  The shared-use path will also connect to sidewalks along 127 Street, north and south of Yellowhead Trail.
