The Safe Routes to School program is aimed to improve road safety on the immediately surrounding and adjacent roads, to encourage students and parents to use active modes of transportation to travel to school such as walking, biking or rolling. In the Summer of 2023, the City completed the planning, design and implementation of numerous adaptable measure upgrades in Brander Gardens before the start of the school year including: <ul><li>One way streets:</li></ul><ul style="margin-left: 60px; list-style-type: circle;"><li>56 Avenue, east of Riverbend Road (eastbound only)</li><li>148 Street, up to 58 Avenue (northbound only)</li></ul><ul><li>Nine adaptable curb extensions on 56 Avenue and 148 Street</li><li>A permanent speed table on 148 Street, south of Riverbend Road</li><li>A centre median that was converted from adaptable materials to be permanent on Riverbend Road at 148 Street </li></ul>Share Your ExperiencesThe City of Edmonton wants to hear your feedback on the adaptable and permanent infrastructure installed in Brander Gardens for the Safe Routes to School program.
